You don’t need another coping skill and you don’t have time to waste on therapy that isn’t helping. You just want to turn down the mental noise. I get that.
Hi, I’m Annika.
(Pronounced like Monica without the “M”)
Becoming a mom unlocked a level of overthinking I didn’t know was possible. I learned pretty quickly that no one really talks about what it’s like when your brain won’t let you enjoy the thing you’ve always wanted. It’s also really hard to explain panic and dread when everything looks fine on the outside.
I’ve always loved learning, so naturally I geeked out over the brain and why anxiety does what it does. I’ve seen that when moms understand what’s happening, and that their brains are simply hardwired to keep them safe, anxiety starts to make sense. They stop blaming themselves, start trusting themselves again, and finally have room to enjoy motherhood.
I work with women who have spent most of their lives holding it all together. They’re the planners, the helpers, the ones everyone counts on. Then motherhood asks them to carry a mental load they’ve never experienced before, and suddenly it’s not as easy to be all the things to all the people. Self-doubt and a fear of failing take over and they feel frozen. They can’t explain why they feel so on edge when everything looks fine on the outside.
I do this work because I want women to know they’re not broken, they’re not crazy, and they’re definitely not alone. I’ve experienced the relief that comes from finally having someone put words to what you’ve been experiencing and have never been able to explain, and that’s what I want to offer you. Because once you can name what’s happening, you can stop fighting yourself and start feeling like yourself again.
