The Hope for Tomorrow Counseling, LLC Approach to Pregnancy Anxiety
You want to feel better, I want to help you get there. Anxiety is a bitch. Thoughts pop up at the most inconvenient times, and ‘just relax’ is a joke of a suggestion. We will work together to identify the thoughts that keep you up at night and find ways to prove them wrong. When we can identify the annoying anxious thoughts, we can start to gain some distance between the thoughts and ourselves. Something super helpful to know is that having scary thoughts is not a reflection of your true intention or desire to be a loving parent.
Just Curious...
What is holding you back from beginning treament for anxiety during pregnancy?
I don’t have time for another appointment.
* I hear that, and getting help for anxiety might actually reduce your future appointments for preeclampsia or postpartum depression. You deserve to feel better and enjoy this journey.
I live in the mountains and don’t have access to treatment.
*I get that too and that’s why I offer online counseling options. You won’t need to brave the winter drive on Red Mountain Pass, or the traffic along the I25 corridor, and instead you can get specialized help for your pregnancy anxiety from the comfort of your own home.
I have a gym membership and working out has always helped in the past.
*I love to hear that you already know the benefits of physical activity for your mental health! Exercise definitely helps boost the feel good hormones, and during ‘typical’ times it can usually be enough. If you are noticing that the things that have worked in the past aren’t quite cutting it, let’s chat and see if adding some therapy check-ins could help. Hormones are wild and sometimes we need just a bit more support to ride out these waves.
